Spirt Class (year 9) recently completed a 2-night, 3-day residential. Following on from the success of Fun-Day at Fairthorne, Spirit Class where able to access several activities throughout the 3 days, both on water, land and in the air!
Activities undertaken included axe throwing, kayaking, high ropes, zip wire, assault course, team challenges as well as time each evening around an open fire where a few s’mores where consumed.
Spirit class had their own self-contained accommodation and their own rooms and shared all mealtimes as a class but also with a number of different groups of young people. The food was rated as excellent by both staff and students as were the activities and staff supporting them.
They want to go again and have even talked about go abroad next time. Some quotes “I don’t want to go home”, “does it have to end”, “can we go on the bouncy pillow again?!”, “can we really have what we like for breakfast?”, “I wished we could have a fire every evening before bed”.
A huge thanks must be made to the staff who gave up their time (Rosie, Carl and Joel) and again to Fairthorne staff who have adapted and supported our school in so many ways.
