The students at Jubilee have been working hard combined with the expert guiding hand of Shane Davies (DT Teacher) to create bespoke poppies to sell alongside the British Royal Legion at Fareham Shopping Centre. Through the creation of these poppies, the students learnt several new skills, including creating threads to screw all the parts together.
In conjunction with the British Royal Legion, the students at Jubilee have learnt about the Royal British Legion, the reason for the poppy symbol and the work and support they provide. We were fortunate enough to have representatives come into school to lead an assembly and see the poppies the students had made.
With the kind support of Fareham shopping Centre, Mike Taylor and the British Royal Legion, Claire Smith and their wonderful volunteers Jubilee school students were able to sell their hand-made poppies to the public. They provided an awful lot of interest and sold out by the end of the day! More than £400 were raised which was an incredible achievement.
